Although we sleep minimally during Fashion Week, it is our absolute favorite time of year. The shows, the after parties, the catching up with friends who've flown in from abroad, and of course the getting away with wearing platforms, leather pants, and fur at 8am. Lincoln Center, is just buzzing with ultra chic, style savants (yes, it is that serious). Today, I've layered the hell out of my ensemble, because it is freezing here! So, so cold (also, please pardon our hair, the wind makes things messy)! But of course, we'll be running around and won't be home perhaps, until tomorrow. So! Here we are. This Skinny Bitch Apparel, Maxi is called 'The Perfect Long Black Dress' and it positively is. I am obsessed with this dress (it even has a side slit, how perfect) and I never want to take it off!

So many exciting things are happening, could this turn out to be one of the best years of our lives?

Anywho, before this turns into a foolishly sentimental diary, let's get to talking about what all the intellectuals are discussing...leather pants and platforms! I (Erica) have decided that it is perfectly acceptable to wear my leather pants as much as I please (which for me, means absolutely all the time). We've been dwelling in a place of total wardrobe transformation lately (same style since 3rd grade, just an upgrade!), and there are certain things that one should never, ever, never-ever let go of. Our list of items that have an immortal timespan in our closets are: leathers, old broken-in tee's (on par with cozy old flannels), sheers, fur layers, anything black, silk, cashmere, or suede, heavy knits, classic blazers, denims, and an excellent pair of lace-up boots.

We've been running on such little energy lately, that we're relying on sustenance in the form of coffee, pizza (some vegetables here and there), B12, Zinc, and Mob Wives. Times are crazy. Sleep, what is that? Up since 5am, we've been up, down, and all around NYC, to the same showroom 4 times, in taxis, on the subway (L train, holler), to a fitting, and then our phones died. PS. We know, you know, that NYC pizza is the best. Right?

A Cold Shoulder, Leather, and Chains.

On Clothes: Our friends at Eighteenth, have the most wonderful (comfortably chic) collection! We are seriously obsessed with every last thing they create and can't wait to see what happens next! Check out their store, here! And, lately there's just a certain something about a good pair of leather pants that I can't escape from. Also, Dave spent half his rent on boots, but they've been on his feet all day err'day.

Anyway, in consistency with the New Year and all, we've created a serious set of plans for the next year. We are doubly excited and terrified, but know that it will all work out (it always seems to, doesn't it?!). First things first, scouting out a potential move to a small office (woah!), travel (Miami, because we're wholeheartedly in love and the EU), then there's yoga, meditation, and lastly, working, working, working.

But really, because we make lists of daily resolutions every morning! We're always working to make something happen, but we must say that there's still something about a new year that is just so inspiring. What We're Wearing: All Black Everything...........Kind Of.

It's getting chilly in the city! Finally, it feels a touch like winter. Of course, the minute the weather dropped, we rushed to find a new set of winter coats. I saw mine, instantly fell in love, and immediately opened a store card to purchase it (shhh!). Dave's still on the hunt for his coat, so this is indeed a piece from last year and/or ten years ago (a solid purchase, if we do say so ourselves). Either way, we've recently also been to Joe Fresh on 6th ave - loved it! Great finds and pieces for layering, and since layering is essential for us, we know we'll frequent the store often. Also, and on a completely (un)related side note, why the hell can't I (Erica) ever find a pair of black skinny pants to fit! I bought these from Zara's and had them tailored ---- twice (now they're perfect and I wear them all the time)!! If you too experience this, don't get discouraged, take the waist in, have them hemmed, figure it out! It is so worth it to have things altered to fit you perfectly. And, if you live in Williamsburg, we work with an amazing (a-ma-zing) tailor - hit us with an Email for their location. :)

What We're Wearing: Layering to Get By......

The level of insanity that is our schedule, would be nearly incomprehensible by most...including ourselves, at times. We have no idea how we are able to manage it all! But, one thing's for sure, we are damn lucky to have each other. We're always on the go, running around like a bunch of crazy chickens with their heads cut off. Showrooms here and there, taxis hardly - subways unfortunately mostly, shoots with 3am call times that last for 16 hours, traveling to two places at once. Or, how about... 2 shoots, 1 meeting, a skype conference to Germany, a buying exam at noon, a blogger conference at 1, and a whiskey to cap it all off (straight, NO ice, please....) ALL in one day! Crazier things have happened we are sure, but that is what happened to us (on one random day in September), and seemingly every consecutive week to follow. We are soooo not complaining! HallelujER for this business and for the busyness. But, alas...the clothes! It is SO important, to have versatile pieces in your collection. We (and you!) need to always work on upgrading our wardrobes with items that can be transitioned from season to season, day to night, city to city, and so on. If you're on the go, nearly as much as we are, layering is essential. See below.......This is how we live.

A Few Of Our Favorite Things....

Two nights ago, we had our friends over for a Pre-Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving dinner. Dinner parties at our apartment seem to happen so frequently, that rearranging our furniture, cooking a 4 course meal, decorating, and setting the table, happens in a flash. This time, we asked our friends to each bring a dish and an article of clothing for donation. And, in the spirit of Thanksgiving and paying it forward, we suggest that you donate something too!

It's been oddly sunny in NYC lately, and we are not complaining! This prolonged Fall weather is just what we (we all) needed! But let's get right to the point here, shall we? Check out my insanely amazing bucket bag! I mean really, does life get any better than some leopard, a sheer maxi, suede platforms, and the perfect bucket bag to go about your day! I received many, many lovely bags, from our friends at Handbago, and I have been in somewhat of a bona fide heaven. Dave is still layering like it's his day job (I guess it somewhat is his day job), and we've both been super into everything monochromatic lately. What We're Wearing: Pixie! Here, there, everywhere...

We've been raving about Fall in NYC and about how much we love it because we can wear sweaters all the time. Well, this post is oozing, just oozing, we say, with the most fabulous sweater ever. Our friends at Pixie Knitwear, sent this totally bad-ass sweater our way and from the second it arrived in the mail, I've not wanted to take it off. I've layered it, worn it with black skinnies, chiffon maxi's, booties, my beat-up combats, and it looks amazing under a leather bomber or a camel capelet. This versatility in one item, is beyond hard to find these days and you cannot tear me away from my new Braided Cable Sweater! As Dave puts it, "This is the kind of sweater you keep forever". I am weary that I may just be the 70 year old granny, rocking an edgy cut-up, cut-out, all around downtown sweater to the grocery store. The coup-de-gras - I would love that.

Dave on the other hand, is living (as we have been for the past 3 years), in his camo jacket. So simple! So necessary! A jacket like that is a staple in our closets, and you can literally wear it with anything. This particular one was thrifted - there you have it, the best $5 ever spent.

Quick little post, because we've been absent the past few days! It was halloween and our BFF from Pittsburgh Stacey, was here for the weekend! It's been a little breezy lately, but not cold enough to wear a fur-lined parka (which we are eagerly waiting to wear-- seriously!)...The city has been a little rainy, a little sunny, hot, cold, and back again. Ah, to feel young again...

OK, so we really aren't old, or anything..we just have a lot of responsibility and we're convinced that while living in NYC is amazing- it also ages you by 10 years or so. We're always running around, like crazy chickens with their heads cut off, and hardly have time to really focus on much else but maintaining our hectic schedule. Balancing a full-time school and work schedule is for lunatics.

Hi! We are lunatics.

Nevertheless, last night we met with old friends we've known since elementary school and had a little dinner party, followed by a night of which we shall not really speak of-- entirely here. We went to a show in a loft, on a side street, somewhere relatively foreign. There were $2 beers, $3 whiskeys, 2 great bands, and it was approximately 200 degrees. I don't know where this post is going- but basically, our night consisted of too many drinks, a lot of dancing and wandering aimlessly, accidentally going into the wrong loft apartment to use the bathroom (see said loft w skate ramp below!), and getting free candy from the bodega after breakdancing to pitbull (don't ask).

We also had an amazing soundtrack to our night, thanks to Capital Moustache! Their show was, pretty much....ridiculously fun. If you are in or around NYC, you should definitely see them live! If not, you can "Like" them on Facebook and check out all of their latest songs. Their next show, is in Astoria, at the Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden. We will most certainly be there....and so should you.

Gas Station Gallery: "Art Station"

Last night (after eating an amazing dinner at a BYOB Thai place on Metropolitan), we went to the "Art Station". It is exactly as it sounds: An art gallery within a gas station. Don't be too quick to judge the trendiness of this! The showcased artists are accomplished, with some of them currently in galleries worldwide, and others creating and exhibiting their work for over 40 years! How incredible is this city?!!! Renowned artwork, some of which sells for upwards of 10 grand (sheesh!!!) in a gas station. A gas station, where anyone can accidentally stumble upon all this incredible work, when they were just trying to buy lotto tickets, some snacks, or a 40.

Fall is Here!!!

Fall in New York City, really is the very best. The other day, we took an impromptu thrifting trip, which leads us to this..impromptu blog post. We called our best friend Alex, (who just happens to be our neighbor), and took a stroll around Lorimer and Bedford, stopped in our favorite stores Stella's and Mystery Train, drank a lot of iced coffee, ate at a little Mexican restaurant for lunch, and bought some Fall things, like sweaters and more sweaters. Alex bought a YSL silk scarf and a killer leopard flop hat, Erica some vintage tees, and Dave a fedora.

On a bit of a side note, but whilst we introduce you to our friend Alex; She was (still is!) a best friend of ours, who was looking for an apartment and actually FOUND one down the street from us! Literally, same street name! It's funny how the universe works, huh? Pretty...amazing. And now, nearly 2 years later, we're still so lucky to be able to call up Al to meet for coffees, walks, and spontaneous shopping trips. And how about the times when we're locked out? Or when we all can share a cab from the Upper West Side back to Brooklyn! Or, when you're really sad (maybe happy!!) and just need to call up your BFF to have a chat. Having a best friend as a neighbor, really just makes us all tremendously fortunate. So, we suppose...this blog post isn't so much about what we wore, after all. Here's to spending days like these, with friends like Al.

Bebe Fashion Show...

The BebeBLACK runway collection, was stunning! The entire line was white on white, with silks, lace, tulles, and sheers. The models were glowing down the runway and music by the MISSHAPES was BANGIN. Collaborating with Teen Vogue and Bebe has been so fun....the coup-de-gras?! Being able to work with such amazing people and attend all of these lovely shows!

Teen Vogue Fashion Show!

Yesterday we went to the Teen Vogue Fashion show! We sat right in the front and were able to snap some really amazing photos to share with you guys! We also were tweeting on behalf of @bebe_Stores and not only did we get to watch a really lovely show, we walked away with a pretty incredible gift bag! (New Boy Meets Girl Tote anyone!?) We were lalala-ing and dancing all the way to the subway and back home afterwards.

We are so excited to announce, that we will be hosting Fashion's Night Out on September 8th with Teen Vogue and Bebe! We've been working on this project for quite some time now and are really just thrilled for what's going to take place! We'll be sharing our Must-Haves in the Bebe Fall Catalogue (So if you get it mailed to your home, be on the look out for us!), and will be hosting a fabulous (there's no other word to describe it) event at Bebe's SOHO location in NYC. The details of the event are above!

What We're Wearing....(and a free JOAN JETT concert!)

Hola! Our summer has been crazy. We thought a lot about how to better describe this current state- but there it is. We've been primarily running around like a bunch of crazy chickens with their heads cut off (no offense to chickens, we love them). Between working and traveling (all work and no play is no way to live- we took some vacas!!)..we've been living under a wild cloud, that has kept us away from the blog(s). Back, back, back! We are back. Anyway- we just returned from Minneapolis, where we spent time with family, thrifted, shopped for an entire day and a half at Mall of America, hung out by the lakes, barbecued, and went to the drive-in-movies. The twin cities are lovely. Immediately after Minnie, we went to Cape Cod, where the time with family and eating until we couldn't move, began again. The Cape is simply beautiful..Any place that is a few feet from a beach, where you can ride your bike to get ice cream and groceries, and where flea markets sell desks and sail boats for under $50, is magical. Although, we must admit: We never can seem to escape work..and we are also guilty of not wanting to. We're going to be wildly busy the next few months - beginning with a video shoot for the charming Jon Bellion later this week. Stay (looney) tuned. xo

PS. A few weeks ago we saw our idol (IDOL) Joan Jett for FREE on Coney Island. How amazing is that?! We love her. When she sang Cherry Bomb and Crimson and Clover, we died. Check it out....

We have been slacking on blogging lately (sorry!!), but we are BACK in the business of our 'What We're Wearing' posts, so stay tuned! Anywho, it was Davie's birthday (big 2-3!) a few days ago...and aside from both of us slightly suffering from a mild case of quarter-life crisis, we are super thrilled to be working as much as we have been, traveling a ton, and doing all the things that we love-- ie. working and traveling. Although our schedule has kept us from the blog as of late, it's been because we've been shooting some pretty awesome lookbooks, films, music videos, and campaigns or have otherwise been shooting on location or traveling to Miami. Blah, blah, blah; Before this post drags on about our recent roller coaster of a schedule, let's get to the good stuff. The CLOTHES! We've been shopping a lot...and we will readily admit that it's gotten a tad out of hand. But, one life to live. la la la! So alas, some new clothes and Davie's 23rd birthday party.

We spent the entire day Tuesday, steaming 136 dresses in preparation for a lookbook shoot, Wednesday with Kevin Michael Reed. 136 gowns, 3 models, 14 hours on set. We are not only wardrobe stylists, but have become steam machines! PS. Thank God for our assistant Marion. Hi Marion!!

We've not blogged in a bit, and it is because we have been in MIAMI! Our trip from NYC to MIA has been splendid, indeed- tonight is our last night and we are sad to part ways with South Beach. Here, we've spent about one hundred hours at the beach, drank endless margaritas poolside, shopped, danced, danced, shopped, and gained about 20 lbs each from eating amazing meals at Mercadito and De Luca. Before Rob left for tour in the UK, we spent one week doing all of our favorite things around the city. Museums, picnics, French films in Central Park, and our usual: trips to the farmers market, homecooked dinners, long-walks around our neighborhood; thrifting and eating. He'll be gone for one month and I can't wait for him to return home, but in the meantime...here are some photos from when we took the ferry and emigrated (sort of) to a very peculiar place: Staten Island.

Alex: Awesome.
Gina: Timeless/Modern.
When was the last time you cleaned out your closet?
Alex: I have two closets...If I don't address them both properly at least a couple of times a month they seem to take on a life of their own.
Gina: About 8 months ago. I find it so hard to part with any of my clothes because they still look so wearable. I only clean my closet out for two reasons, to make more room and I give the clothes to OUT OF THE CLOSET. It makes me happy to think maybe someone will enjoy them as much as I did.
How much of your wardrobe do you presently wear?
Alex: 5%. I seriously feel like I live in the same thing most days... I've become a purist. It's become my uniform.
Gina: 5% but I really would like to change that.
How is your closet currently organized?
Alex: Organized?
Gina: Somewhat organized by bottoms and tops, denim and sweaters , dresses and t-shirts...

Alex: I feel like I tend to incorporate elements of all of the above (though I do detest the term "trendy hipster" and perhaps w/ the exclusion of sporty). I am more fashion forward while honoring my classic sensibility. My style is very representational of myself: I am relaxed and comfortable in my skin + in my clothes - everything has to be natural, effortless or else it ceases to be anything.

Favorite designer(s):
Alex: McQueen was my favorite. He was a true artist + genius... Also, Hussein Chalayan, Dries Van Noten, Ann Demeulemeester, Comme des Garçons, SO many... the list really does goes on (and on... and on). I actually LOVE menswear + wear it quit a bit... My friend Sam (formerly at McQueen) has a great new London based line, Agi and Sam which I'm really vibing on atm. We are both also addicted to Alexander Wang - I don't think there is a day that goes by that one of us isn't wearing his threads.
Gina: Way too many to list , everyday I am inspired by old and new talent.
Best-dressed celebrity (“Fashion Icon”)?
Alex: I don't pay much attention to celebrity... I suppose I'd have to say Jolie. Anytime I see her she always looks great. She has a real ease, her style is seemingly effortless + she has always done her own thing regardless of what The "Fashion Police" might say. Abby Lee is another one who has caught my attention recently...Confidence is key, you can have all the "fabulous" clothes in the world but unless you can carry it - it isn't worth much.

If you had unlimited buying power at any store what store would it be?
Alex: In LA(where we both live and JAGGER EDGE is based) I think I speak for both of us when I say Church. The fact that they were really amongst the first to believe in us and our, at the time unheard of, techccessory idea...Really is testament to what visionaries Rodney + David (owners) truly are. Every piece in there is a work of art and they treat it as such! Every time I go in I WANT!!
Gina: For everyday pieces and denim I go to Elisa B in old town pasadena.
How often do you shop?
Alex: Not as often as I should.
Gina: Once a month.
Describe your Go-To (Staple) outfit:
Alex: Anything w/ my combat boots... I've had them since i was 12, they still fit and are ALWAYS on my feet.
Gina: boyfriend jeans, alexander wang tee's, phillip lim harem pants, any soft tees and hoodies.
Which magazines do you subscribe to or read regularly?
Alex: I just discovered DUST which I'm kinda excited about. I love younger magazines that focus on emerging talent vs. stagnant ideas: I Love You, The Last Magazine, Dansk, Husk, Self Service... I'd have to say A is my current fav though.
Gina: Vanity Fair, I am on the internet much more now.
Alex: We've both become blog junkies!!
